After four years of my absence from World of Warcraft and missing three expansions somehow Blizzcon is back, yes Actiblizz got bought by Microsoft and they kind of revive or remake, or just update everything, WOW retail server got some roguelite action RPG style dungeon, WOW classic got updated, and there's a new server called WOW Forever which basically WOW classic+ with wanted things that people jokes about like 20 years ago, Flying Elfs, Undead Paladins, and they're probably'll get that scrapped undersea raid as well.
And speaking of undead paladins Warcraft 3 got it's first mission pack after 20 years which labeled Forsaken Kingsom which will tell how Sylvanas conquers Lordaeron after Arthas sacked it and how she'll ally with the Horde years before WOW begins, anyway Starcraft got revived as narrative-driven FPS (yes, it's Starcraft: Ghost remake or just.. made), Hearthstone got the monk class and that talking knife Xal'atath will be on Heroes of The Storm.
Will I come back? Before I get to that I must tell you something because Blizzard just made everything that they think will appease 40 years-ish people who still plays WOW or any MMOs, and they're not the only one, Guild Wars 3 is still on development which said will implement Guild Wars 1 hub system, Runescape is still updating, ESO made several life quality change for free and paid players, Final Fantasy XIV albeit slowing down and have mixed reviews about their latest expansion they're still made top notch storytelling and still going on strong, even though several titles have come and go I think MMORPGs still refuses to die. Oh yeah, that weird RPG from Ncsoft: Aion, they got a sequel.
Which brought us into the fact: Will people play it? Or more specific: What kind of people will play it? Or in the sense of marketing: Who's the target market? World of Warcraft came on 2001 and it's still on after 25 years, they have strong presence in the North America and Europe if not, some of the Asia as well, although they came when |Runescape, Dark Age Of Camelot, and Ultima online still share the markets they quickly gain players and become a gaming culture, some subculture sprang from it: The Guild webseries, Blizzcon, Chuck Norris Barren talk, and so on, numerous Youtubers and streamers started theirl life career here. The gaming culture was so strong at that time that people form friendship in game, going on 40 man raids and then brought it to real world through cons and festivals, devs become celebs and have fans (and haters), when you have played a game for 10 years or more, some of your life will be on it.
I'm tempting, very tempting to just come back, but sometimes if there's just a piece of your life's memories on it, it won't be enough, you see I was a solo player, I played WOW when the community started to become unruly and there's more content for solo players, it was a really good time for me despite the toxic community, then after like 10 years class and guild hopping I got burnout and left after Shadowland ends, At that time I just don't have any motivation to login although at that time I hardly have the energy to do anything either. i think at that time I was in peace with the fact that MMORPGs has died
So MMORPGs probably heading for their second coming but I still don't have the same urge to dive into them, after 10 years of WOW and FFXIV I don't think I found my rock there, so unless something really awesome happened I'll be still on the fence.
